Obituary for Horace Eugene “Gene” Gaskins Sr. Horace Eugene “Gene” Gaskins, Sr. – 82 Of Naylor, GA passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Lakeland Villa surrounded by his family. He was born on December 19, 1935 in Nashville, GA to the late Roy and Clara Mae (Faulkner) Gaskins. He retired from Lowndes County Public Works Department after 24 years.

Mr. Gaskins was a member of Pleasant Way Baptist Church and was a deacon and song leader for 45 years. He loved fishing, hunting and traveling. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by, 4 brothers; Marion Gaskins, Edward Gaskins, Bennie Gaskins, and Clifton “Roy” Gaskins.

Survivors include: Wife of 63 years, Betty Ruth Gaskins of Naylor, GA; 2 Daughters, Cindy and Terry Register of Valdosta, GA; B.J. and Larry Ganas of Valdosta, GA; Son and Daughter-in-law, Horace and Melody Gaskins of Woodstock, GA; 5 Grandchildren: Persephanie Castleberry (Craig), Tyler Ganas, Lindsey Rykman (Kory), Tiffany Hildreth (David), and Colby Gaskins (Logan); 6 Great Grandchildren: Hunter Kussman (Kady), Ashton Ohler (Michael), Caleb Kussman, Averie Rykman, Evan Rykman, and Jocelyn Hildreth; 3 Great Grandchildren: Harper Kussman, Jessa Kussman, and Weslyn Ohler and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Pleasant Way Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
