Howard James Ahrens OAKWOOD – Howard James Ahrens, 86, of Oakwood died at 3:10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice. He was born January 12, 1934 in Elgin, IL to the late Ernest August and Stella Mae (Droegemuller) Ahrens. On January 11, 1969 he married Judith I. Stanley who died June 22, 2000.

He is survived by three children, Michelle (Martin) Grimes of Defiance, Donald (Rosalie) Ahrens of Fresno, CA and Steven (Lili) Ahrens of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on-the-way; and a sister. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Howard was a retired maintenance electrician for Pacific Coast Brush.

He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Howard was a member of the John Paulding Historical Society. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood.

Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery, Cypress, CA. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences can be expressed at: www.
