Obituary of Hugh Brown WALLINGFORD – Hugh A. Brown, 94, departed this life on February 1, 2019, at home surounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Anne (Walker) Brown of 48 years. Hugh was born in East Corinth, ME on January 9, 1925 to the late George and Cora (Curtis) Brown.

He served proudly as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He grew up in Seboies, Maine where he met the love of his life and started their family together. In 1963 he and his wife took their four daughters and began the next chapter, settling in Wallingford, CT.

In Maine, Hugh worked for the railroad for 17 years and for Wallingford Steel Mill for 26 years. He an was avid bowler, fisherman and hunter. He also had a green thumb, as he loved his gardening.

Hugh also enjoyed cooking for his family and going tag saleing. The Boston Red Sox, UCONN Woman’s Basketball and the New England Patriots were at the top of his list. He was thrilled to attend his first Red Sox Baseball game at the age of 80.

Hugh loved life and his family and will truly be missed by all who knew him. Hugh is survived by his four daughters; Penny (John) Russo, Marjorie Ferreira; Donna (Michael) Dinneen and Kelli Falconeri as well as 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. He also leaves behind his brother, Joe Brown and his sister, Georgia Smart, in addition to many loving nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, Hugh was predeceased by his brothers; Warren and Kenneth and by his sisters; Alfrieda, Leah, Alice, Leona, Donna and Alma. Hugh’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 9:00 am at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. Relatives and friends can attend a public visitation on Monday evening, February 4, 2019 from 4-7 pm.

Military Honors will be rendered at the funeral home immediately following the service on Tuesday. Burial will be held at a later date in Center Street Cemetery. To leave a message of remembrance, please visit www.
