Ida L. Rector, age 99, of Holstein, passed away on Saturday, March 09, 2019 at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church of Holstein with the Rev. Doresa K. Collogan officiating.

Burial will be at the Galva Township West Cemetery of Galva. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2019 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein. Ida passed away on Saturday, March 09, 2019 at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove.

Ida Lena Rector was born December 10, 1919 in Holstein, Iowa to Louis and Anna Ida (Kuehl) Andresen. She was a graduate of Holstein High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Leo L. Rector on November 28, 1948 at the Holstein United Methodist Church.

To this union three sons were born. Ida worked as a legal secretary for Jesse Leonard then helped part time during tax season. The couple farmed east of Holstein and Ida enjoyed her role as a homemaker for her family.

She was a member of the Holstein United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW Quilting group and Mary’s Circle and was a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star. Ida enjoyed doing needlepoint, baking, bird watching of Cardinals and Goldfinches on her feeders, word searches and taking Sunday drives through the car lots. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.

Ida is survived by her sons, Larry (Pat) Rector of Ida Grove, IA, Curtis (Kathy) Rector of Battle Creek, IA and Gay (Debbie) Rector of Sioux City, IA; grandson, Daniel (Jorrie) Rector of Danbury, IA; and great-grandchildren, Autumn and Leo Rector; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Anna; husband, Leo; brothers and Victor Andresen, Harry Andresen; and sister-in-law, Bernett Andresen-Indorf.
