Iola Leafty, 87, of Hiawatha, KS, passed away March 9, 2019 at Hiawatha. She was born September 29, 1931 at Rulo, NE to Thomas and Minnie (Frederick) Wallace. She married Lenard Leafty on August 10, 1950 at Hiawatha, KS.

He passed away June 19, 1007. Iola was raised at Falls City and attended Falls City Public Schools. When married the couple established their home at Falls City.

She helped her husband operate Leafty’s Disposal Service for 32 years. They moved to Hiawatha in 1978 and she has lived there since, retiring in 1990. She was a member of The Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints at Hiawatha.

Iola is survived by her sons, Lloyd and his wife Sue of Skidmore, TX, Terry and his wife Cindy of Robinson, KS, Carl of Tecumseh, NE, daughters, Pam Leafty of Hiawatha, Irma Pokorny and her husband James of Liberal, KS, Susan McCartney and her husband Jim of Falls City, Rita Houtz of Hiawatha, Sheri Leafty of Robinson, sister, Sharon Zimmerman of Brunnell, FL, twenty-six grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, David, brother, Clarence Wallace and a sister, Becky Lynch. Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Ryan Larsen officiating.

Interment will be in Steele Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
