Ione Marie Wells, 90, of Nampa, died peacefully in her sleep on February 4, 2019, surrounded by her family. Ione was born on January 7, 1929 in Bentonville, Arkansas to Grace and Austin Robbins. She was the eldest of three children and in 1937 the family moved to Ontario, Oregon where she graduated from Ontario High School in 1946.

She met and married Elbert Wells in 1947 and in 1949 they moved to Nampa, Idaho where they raised three children, two daughters and a son. Ione worked for the Nampa School District Food Service for several years while raising children, but was able to work full time as Bookkeeper after she and Elbert purchased the McDonald’s Upholstery business in 1968. They sold the business in 1991 and she was able to donate more of her time to her church.

She joined the First Christian Church in the early 50’s and was a dedicated member for over 50 years. She was active in the church choir, taught Sunday School, was Chairman of the Worship team, Membership Chairman, Outreach Chairman and President (many times) of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was instrumental in creating the annual church bazaar and the annual Mother/Daughter banquet which are both still very successful to this day.

One of her passions for service included the hours of preparation, cooking, and serving many funeral dinners for members of the church and community. She loved her family, her church, and her church family. Ione was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elbert, her sister, Darlene Robbins of Baker, Oregon, her daughter, Jacqueline, of Boise, her son-in-law, Joe Masson of Nampa, and one grandson.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Brock and Ruth Robbins of Weiser, her son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Cheryl Wells of Nampa and Salt Lake City, her daughter, Kathleen Masson of Nampa, five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church, Women’s Outreach Program, 619 12th Ave South in Nampa, Id. A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Nampa First Christian Church.

A viewing will be held prior to the services starting at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. An online guest book is available at www.
