Obituary for Irma Castillo Our beloved sister and friend, Irma Castillo, 58, daughter of the late Ernest and Carmen Castillo passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 14, 2018. She was born and raised in San Antonio and graduated from Sidney Lanier High School. Irma proudly served in the U.S. Army until her honorable discharge.
Following, she graduated from Pharmacy Technician School and began a 28 year career that spanned from San Antonio, Chicago and San Diego until her illness required her to withdraw from a profession she was so passionate of. She was an avid animal lover – a cat whisperer. Irma made many, many friends throughout her life and her family is comforted by the outpouring of love and support Irma received during her courageous battle with cancer.
In addition to her parents, Irma is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jesus and Zapopa Cerna. She is survived by her friend, Julia Cervantes; her siblings, Ernest Castillo and his wife, Frances, David Castillo and his wife, Anna and Maria E. Reynolds and her husband, Richard; her uncle, Richard Cerna and his wife, Minerva; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins and her San Diego, California friends. Irma will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Challa and the staff at Texas Oncology and VITAS Hospice for all their compassionate care.
