J. Richard Vincent, 90, longtime resident of Windsor CT, Guilford CT and Knoxville TN passed away peacefully July 20, 2018 after a long battle with dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. Born October 12, 1927, Richard was the husband of the late Phyllis DelPrincipe Vincent and the father of Mark Vincent of Feeding Hills, MA; Antoinette (David) Johnson of Golden Valley, AZ; Richard (Sharon) Vincent of Hill, NH; Gina (Joseph) Cadorette of Simsbury and Michele (William) Bowe of Guilford. He was the… Read More » brother of Jack and Carmen and predeceased by two siblings, Marcelle and Maurice.

In addition to his children, he is survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Mr. Vincent is a WWII veteran and proudly served his country in the US Navy, Naval Reserves and Air National Guard for much of his adult life. He also worked as the building inspector for the town of Windsor in the 1950s, before becoming an assessor for various towns including the towns of Enfield, Mansfield and Manchester.

But his true love was construction. He learned from his father, working for the A.J. Vincent and Sons Construction Company, eventually running the business in the 1950’s. He later operated Alaimo and Vincent Real Estate in Enfield in the early 1970s, then opened Vincent Realty in Windsor in 1973.

After retirement he moved to Knoxville TN where he spent several years using his carpentry skills to renovate houses. Richard enjoyed reading, writing and sharing recollections of the time he spent serving his country. He was also a licensed pilot that loved flying.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10305.
