Jack’s Obituary Jack B. “Rusty” Maus, age 80 of White Cloud, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in White Cloud. He was born June 1, 1938 in Algoma Township, Kent County, the son of Robert “Jack” and Dorothy (Smith) Maus. Jack was honorably discharged after serving in the United States National Guard.

He married Barbara L. White on June 9, 1956 and together they raised their family in Woodville. Jack worked on the pipeline most of his life, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Big Rapids American Legion Honor Guard Post 98.

Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hobby farming. He liked to work on tractors and lawn mowers and was a talented wood worker. Jack had a great sense of humor and could tell a good story or joke.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara L. Maus of White Cloud; six children, Russell Maus of Las Vegas, Jackie (Steve) Yeck of Pentwater, Bonnie Hietikko of Las Vegas, Crystal Allers of Las Vegas, Veronica (Miki) Bliss of White Cloud, and Vallerie (Wayne) Batch of White Cloud; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; three siblings, John (Janet) Maus of Canadian Lakes, Bill Maus of Virginia, and Sharlene (Bruce) Leusby of Reed City; sister-in-law, Leona Smith of Rockford; and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Randy Smith and Daniel Maus; two grandchildren, Jared and Wade Weller. Cremation has taken place and there are no services being planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to the Newaygo County Compassion Home, 930 East Newell Street, White Cloud, MI 49349.
