Obituary for Jack Carlisle Armstrong Jack Carlisle Armstrong, 78, of Whispering Pines, NC passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, with his wife by his side. Jack Armstrong was born in Danbury, CT to the late Elmer and Della May (Pratt) Armstrong. After graduating from high school, he went on to serve in the Navy.
He attended the University of Wisconsin, focusing on engineering. Jack was co-owner of Sigma Environmental Systems in Wappingers Falls, NY, a company that specialized in HVAC and fireplaces. He retired in 2002 and moved to Whispering Pines, NC.
He enjoyed golfing, NASCAR, traveling around the world, landscaping, smoking Parliament cigarettes, pontoon boating, designing, building, and implementing home improvements; crown molding, wainscoting, and decorative trims were his signature touch. At work and at home, you would find Jack engrossed on his computer for hours, creating colorful, intricate brochures and documents, and architectural and engineering drawings, using CAD and Photoshop; he loved keeping up with the latest technological software. When Jack retired, he immersed himself as a volunteer in the town of Whispering Pines, NC, founding the Muckrakers, leading a team of men in designing and operating a large boat to remove the muck from the lakes in the area, and creating this website www.
wpmuckraker.com/home. html . He was in several golfing leagues in the Pinehurst area, and loved volunteering for the Golf Opens when they came to Pinehurst, NC.
Jack was a hard worker, always pushing himself beyond his limits, doing everything his way on his terms, and if he was in pain, he never complained. Jack loved sitting on the porch in his chair, watching the gorgeous sunsets over the lake. “When things get really bad, always remember this view,” he told Ann, who he cared about and cared for until he couldn’t.
Jack leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Ann Patricia Longmuir Buchar Armstrong, together for forty-three years. His sons: Jack Carlisle Armstrong, Jr. (Lisa), grandson Morgan (Allison) and great granddaughter Adelaide; Jeffrey Pratt Armstrong (Karin) and granddaughters Leandra and Madison. Jack’s stepdaughter Pamela Jeanne Krizek and grandson Stephen Krizek (Janelle) with great grandsons Preston, James and Mason, grandson Nicholas Krizek (Sarah) with great grandson Callen, and grandson Phillip Krizek (fiancé Arianna); stepson Wayne Alan Buchar (Christine) and grandsons Christopher, Nathan and Benjamin; stepdaughter Lois Ann Snyder (Carl) all of NY; and stepson Douglas Robert Buchar of Carthage, NC and grandchildren Justin and Megan.
Jack is predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Della May (Pratt) Armstrong, and his grandson, Sean Buchar. The family is grateful to all of his doctors, nurses, CNAs, caregivers (Elizabeth Sammons LLC) and Hospice team (FirstHealth Hospice) who lovingly cared for Jack. The family will receive guests at 9am followed by a Celebration of Life at 10am on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
