Jack Ervin Knappen, 83, passed on to be with the Lord on October 27th, 2018 at Shawnee Mission Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 22nd, 1935 in Indianola, IA in his grandmother’s home. Following 3 years of service in the Marine Corps, Jack graduated from the University of Iowa.

He worked for the U.S. Government for over 30 years. Following retirement, he enjoyed driving tour buses throughout the country for another 15 years. For many years, he was treasurer of his Milburn Fields Homes’ Association.

His greatest joy was with his family! He loved being with his sons, daughter-in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything in life. Jack was preceded in death by his son, Tommy, his parents and one brother.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara, his sons Jeff (Betsy), Dan (Jodi), Kurt (Terri), two sisters, one brother, his nieces and nephews, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Jack was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church, and will be greatly missed by those who loved him dearly. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church, with visitation immediately preceding at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be sent to Bethany Lutheran Church, located at 9101 Lamar Avenue, Overland Park, KS, 66207.
