Carrol Martin Glendening, 91, Shawnee, KS passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Garden Terrace in Overland Park, KS. A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, service 2 PM, on Sunday, December 30, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. Burial will follow at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.

Carrol was born on March 25, 1927 in Hiattville, KS to Calvin and Sarah Glendening. He married Edith Fern Palmer August 6, 1950. He received his Doctorate in Education Degree from Kansas University in 1966.

He was the first Principal of Marsha Bagby Elementary School in Leawood, KS and then was Assistant Superintendent for Bonner Springs School District for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Leta Crays; and brothers, Blaine and Dwight. Carrol is survived by his wife, Edith of Rio Rancho, NM; son, Phil Glendening (Debbie); daughter, Sheri Overman (Dan); six grandchildren, Jill Clingan (Matt), Jeff Glendening (Jill), Timothy Overman (Kristin), Titus Overman (Kristy), Peter Overman (Nicole), and Phillip Overman (Kristin).

Carrol was a member of Shawnee Mission Baptist Temple and was a Gideon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International for Bible distribution, www.
