Obituary for Jack Lavern Redhead It is with great sorrow that the family of Jack Lavern Redhead announces his passing from this life on October 21, 2018. Jack was born on June 8, 1923, son of Jack Ward Redhead and Marjorie McCray Redhead in South Bend, Indiana. He spent his young years growing up in and around the Detroit area until his parents took him north to the rivers and lakes of the Grayling, Michigan area.

During his teen years he became an accomplished fishing guide with his father on the AuSable River. He remained an avid fly fisherman for the rest of his life. After his graduation from Grayling High School in 1941 he moved back to Detroit, where he worked and developed interests in radio electronics and photography.

He enlisted in the Army at the outbreak of World War II, where he trained as a radio operator and repairman. He served honorable until his release at the War’s conclusion. After Jack returned home his interest turned to auto mechanics and engineering.

He went to work for Chrylser Corporation and stayed with them until his retirement. His hobbies included fishing, camping, traveling and photography. He was a Jack-of-all-trades with an ability to fix anything he turned his mind and hand to.

Jack also served the Lord with his active service of many years at Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church in Royal Oak and continued that service at First Presbyterian Church in Warren. He was active in the Choir and as an Elder. Jack is survived by his wife, Marion Smalley Redhead and by his daughters, Deborah Redhead Hanmer (Clark), Constance Redhead Cassidy (Charles) and Julie Redhead Nemchik (Paul), and by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 24th from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with 6:00 pm service, at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block North of 13 Mile Road, West side of John R.
