Obituary of Jack Hayya Jack C. Hayya, 89, of State College, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at home. Born March 10, 1929, in Baghdad, Iraq, he was the son of the late Issac and Habiba Hukhman Hayya. Jack is survived by his wife Susan Hayya of State College; his stepsons Martin Jauch of Japan and Brian Jauch of Portland, OR; and his siblings Bader, Doris and Joseph.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Abraham. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, a Master’s degree in Management from the California State University of Northridge and a Doctorate degree in Business administration from the University of California. Jack retired in 1998 from Penn State University as Professor Emeritus of Management Science.

He started at Penn State in 1967, was promoted to full Professor in 1975 and was granted permanent tenure in 1973. He was recognized in 1990 as a fellow of the Decision Sciences Institute. Jack was a member of Chabad of Penn State.

Graveside service and burial was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, with Rabbi Meretsky officiating. There will be Celebration of Jack’s life in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Smeal Diversity MBA Program, The Pennsylvania State University, in Jack’s memory.
