Obituary of Jack Sproles Jack Sproles late of Bowling Green, Kentucky, a former resident of Corbin for over six decades, was called home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2018. He was born January 25, 1927 in Pineville, Kentucky to Talitha Cumi “Mae” Dennison Sproles and James Henry Sproles. On October 26, 1947 he married the beautiful girl next door, the love of this life, Jessie Marie Lovell.

He is survived by their two loving sons, J. Stephen (Rhonda) Sproles and G. Douglas (the late Sharon) Sproles; grandchilden, Elizabeth Sproles, Katherine Sproles, Andrew Sproles, Adene (Nick) Sproles Foos, Margaret (Ivan) Sproles Rodriguez; and two great granddaughters, Kaylee Foos and Yaretzi Rodriguez. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. As a steadfast Christian, he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Deacon, and as a Prayer Warrior, touching many lives.

Jack was a man of remarkable talents, including music, gardening, an avid fisherman, and master checker player. He was a fine athlete in his younger years and member of the Lone Jack High School varsity basketball team in the 1940’s. He was a valued employee of long standing with U.S. Steel/Arch of Kentucky in Corbin, where he was primarily a heavy equipment operator and then mechanic.

He was also an employee of Southern Cable and owner of a miniature golf course in the mid 70’s. He was a long standing member of United Mine Workers Local 1070. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, by his beloved wife, and by sisters, M. Ethel (the late Ben) Sproles Carnes, Hestal L. (the late Fred) Sproles Hooker, and Margaret L. (the late Charles) Sproles Grubbs; by brothers, Richard B. (the late Jessie L.) Sproles, Joseph E. (the late Mildred M.) Sproles, James L. (the late Willie M.) Sproles, and his beloved twin, John D. (the late Ruth) Sproles.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. and services will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Vankirk~Grisell Funeral Home with interment following at Pine Hill Cemetery. Ministers will be Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton and Rev.

Allen Bonnell. Any and all of the men that attended the Sunday School classes he taught over the years are invited as honorary pallbearers. Messages may be sent to the family at www.
