Jacob Kempel, 89 of Lisbon, North Dakota died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at CHI Lisbon Heath surrounded by his family. Jake was born on February 11, 1929, the son of Fredrick and Charlotte (Goodmanson) Kempel in Elliot, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Elliot.

Jake worked for various farmers growing up in Elliot. He was united in marriage to Marie Kempel on November 6, 1953 in Lisbon. They made their home in Englevale and Jake worked for Streich Farms for many years until purchasing a road grader.

They moved near Lisbon in 1972. Throughout the years he maintained many rural roads for numerous townships until the late 80’s. Jake then was a driver for South Valley Preschool until his retirement.

Jake enjoyed square dancing and going to the casino with Marie, Sudoku puzzles and playing cards. Throughout the years, Jake also enjoyed taking care of his pets and animals he raised. Jake is survived by his daughter, Lorri (Wayne) Lagorin of Tulsa, OK; son, Joel Kempel of Lisbon, ND; four grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marie (2016), and eight siblings.
