It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Jackie who lost her valiant battle with cancer on January 12, 2019. Mom was born March 17, 1935 in Morgan, PA to the late Joseph and Irene Guierrer.

She grew up in Natrona Heights and graduated from Har-Brack in 1953. Mom worked for the Burrell School District for 21 years where she made life-long friends with the ladies in the office. Their fun together included bus trips to casinos, lunch dates and breakfast at King’s every third Monday of the month.

Mom was an avid sports fan. ESPN was always on. She had two tv’s so she could watch two sporting events at one time.

That love of sports came from her dad who played for Duquesne and later coached high school football. Mom and Dad passed that love of sports onto their daughters. We always said that we were born and raised at Forbes Field.

We had Steelers season tickets during the glory years and experienced Penguins games as well. Mom was also an avid supporter of Burrell sports teams. For years, she had a lot along the Allegheny River in Braeburn where she enjoyed spending time with her many friends.

She always said that you can’t beat river people. She will be sorely missed by her river family. Her greatest love of all was her family.

Her grandsons and her great grandchildren brought her much joy. She had a close, loving relationship with her daughters and sons-in-law. Mom wasn’t your typical 83 year old.

She was always welcomed by a much younger crowd including her daughters’ friends as well as her grandsons’. She loved going to Mogie’s, especially to celebrate her St. Patrick’s Day birthday. She will be sorely missed by all.

She is survived by daughters JoRene (Mike) Lanni, Dana (Ben) Abate both of Lower Burrell, grandsons Dane (Karen) and Cole Taylor, great grandchildren Easton and Peyton Taylor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Frank “Goose” Matovcik in 2001 as well as her sister Gail Bruno. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Allegheny Valley Hospital, her caregivers from Monarch Hospice, Erica, Norm and her buddy Judy, and all her dear friends who called or visited.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 3-7 PM at THE RUSIEWICZ OF LOWER BURRELL FUNERAL HOME, 3124 Leechburg Rd. at Alder St. where Prayers of Transfer will be said Wednesday at 9:30 AM followed by Christian Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Margaret Mary Church, Lower Burrell. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Hope Mausoleum, Frazer Twp.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Monarch Hospice Donation Fund 2837 Leechburg Rd, Lower Burrell 15068. www.
