OBITUARY James Alexander Tatem IV April 25, 2001 – December 24, 2018 James Alexander Tatem, IV (Alex) passed away unexpectedly on Monday, the 24th of December 2018. Alex was born on the 25th of April 2001, in Houston. Alex was currently enrolled as a Senior at St. Thomas Catholic High School.

He had recently been accepted to Baylor University as well as many other universities throughout the United States. He was a member of the National Honors Society and had many academic achievements. He attended St. Michael’s Catholic School as well St. Francis Episcopal prior to high school.

Alex had a great passion for baseball. Many memorable years were played at Post Oak Little League, Spring Branch and Bellaire Little League. His love for baseball gave him the incentive to coach his little sister’s 8U softball team for SBMSA.

He also enjoyed many summers at Camp Ozark where he made many friendships and earned the highest marksmanship in riflery and sport shooting. Alex was avid hunter and fisherman. He looked forward to every opening weekend of dove and deer season at the ranch to go hunting with his Dad.

Every summer was filled with lots of fishing trips whether it was in Port Aransas, Florida or Mexico. The most memorable fishing trip was last year off the coast of Mexico when he battled the fight to bring in his first billfish. Alex’s loving and giving nature created a desire to volunteer in many community service organizations especially at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.

Alex’s beautiful heart, compassion and care was like no other. He had a firm belief in faith, love and life. Our hearts are saddened by the loss of such a special, intelligent, thoughtful and gentle soul.

He will be missed not only by his family but each and every person he knew and loved. He is preceded in death by his Grandmother Cynthia Meyer Patton. Alex is survived by his Mother Allison Patton Tatem and Father James Alexander Tatem, III; sisters Carley Elizabeth Tatem and Grace Meyer Tatem.
