James Alfred Shields joined his Lord and Savior in Heaven on May 11, 2019 at the age of 93. James was born on May 10, 1926 in Parks, Arkansas to John Wesley and Lonnie Caroline (Marsh) Shields. James married Reba Usrey in 1946 in Clarendon, Texas and they began their journey together that lasted 73 years.

James proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WW ll. They moved to Bryan County from Lelia, Texas and he worked as a rancher and a milkman. He was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ and he served as an Elder and song leader.

In his spare time he enjoyed ranching and gardening and he had a true love for his family. James was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Yvonne Krutzler and Debbie Hubbard; six brothers and 3 sisters. James is survived by his wife Reba Shields of Durant; son, John Shields and wife Diana of Combine, TX; grandchildren, Adam Krutzler and wife Ashley, Don Shields, Wesley Shields and Tabatha Williams and husband Jeremy; great grandchildren, Jaily Williams, Blaze Williams, Melanie Shields, James Dean Shields and Samantha Shields and numerous extended family and friends.

Services to celebrate James’s life will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the NW Church of Christ. Mickey Bannister will officiate. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.
