James Arthur Miller, December 08, 2018 — December 08, 2018

James Arthur Miller, age 74,, of Hudson, MI, passed away peacefully, December 8, 2018, at Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home. He was born March 8, 1944, in Feds Creek, KY, before making his home in Adrian, MI, in 1964. On August 13, 1989, he married Marsha Ann Towns, she survives.

James (Jim) worked over 35 years for General Motors, mostly in the Adrian, MI, Plant. A Tool and Die Maker during his early years, he spent his final decade as a UAW Committeeman, a position voted into by his peers, before retiring in 2000. A basketball star in his high school years, his competitive spirit never wavered throughout his life, as anyone who met him on the basketball court, softball field or even the Euchre table, would easily attest.

However, his real passion and love was for hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was truly at home when in the woods, on a lake or on top of a mountain. His E-Z chair was a deer stand, his comfort clothes was camouflage, and his second kids were his hunting dogs.

In addition to his wife, Marsha Miller, he is survived by his son, Jamie Miller of Adrian, daughter, Shawna (David) Nye of Bloomdale, OH, and stepson Erik Towns of Fredericksburg, VA, his grandchildren, Andrew Nye, Danielle Miller, Kyle Towns and Hailey Towns, two sisters, Pamela Howard, of Adrian, and Earlene Eidenier, of Lampasass, TX, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Isabelle and Marion Miller Pugh, of Feds Creek, KY, his mother Ruth Rose, stepfather, Joe Rose, and one brother, David Rose. Visitation will be on Monday, December 10, 2018, from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral, Adrian, MI. , with Pastor Rick Strawcutter officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers, to please send donations to Hospice House of Lenewee County, 1903 Wolf Creek Hwy, Adrian, MI 49221.
