Obituary for James Dean Seba Sr. SYRACUSE – James Dean Seba, 79, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at his home in Syracuse, Kansas. He was born August 22, 1939, to Violet Ledora (Rasmussen) and Henry George Seba in Tribune, Kansas. He married Sophia Eleanor “Ellie” Gutierrez at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tribune, Kansas.

Jim was a member and served as a Deacon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church while living in Tribune and continued serving in the same role at the First Christian Church of Syracuse. Together Jim and Ellie managed Tribune Bowl for 20 years. They also enjoyed square dancing and were active members of the Spurs and Garters out of Tribune.

Jim had a passion for collecting stamps, coins, hats, and pens. He loved watching sports, especially when it was the Kansas City Chiefs, KU Jayhawks basketball team, or his favorite, the KC Royals! Jim had a passion for golf!

For many years he took pride in taking care of several golf courses in the area. He was Superintendent of Prairie Ridge at Tribune and the Leoti Country Club, and was Groundskeeper at Tamarisk Golf Course in Syracuse. He was a member of the Kansas Golf Course Superintendent Association of America.

Jim and Ellie golfed in many contest from Colorado to Arkansas and Nebraska to Texas winning many tournaments. Jim loved golfing with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Ellie Seba daughter, Marla Howell of Syracuse, Ks of the home; three sons, James Seba Jr. and wife Ann of Conway Springs, Ks, Todd Seba and wife Shelly of Pratt, Ks, Matthew Seba and wife April of Tonganoxie, Ks; brothers, Gary Seba and wife Ann of Lubbock, Tx, Norman Seba of Kansas City, Ks, sisters, Viola Jordan of Sisters, OR, Donna Murphy of Hulbert, Ok; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Don Seba, Dwayne Seba, Valdo Seba; sisters, Valeta Rasmussen, Delores Seba, and Bertha Cook. Cremation was entrusted to Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Sublette. The family will celebrate his life on Memorial Day weekend 2019.
