Obituary for James E. Fowler James Elmer Fowler, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Eden Terrace-Spartanburg. Born August 10, 1932, in Pauline, SC, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family, a son of the late Saul F. and Virginia Smith Fowler. A graduate of Wofford College and U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War he served in Navy Navigation.

Mr. Fowler retired as Senior Research Physicist from Milliken & Company after 36 years of service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, and was a volunteer for Mobile Meals, Adult Education, and Habitat for Humanity. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Martha Reeves Fowler of the home; children, James Reeves Fowler of Pauline, SC, Michael John Fowler of Spartanburg, SC, and Mary Fowler Fingerlin (Martin) of Lexington, SC; as well as grandchildren, Grayson and Gabe.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Marvin Fowler and Cecil Fowler; and sister, Mildred Fowler Phillips. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 13, 2018, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd. , Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev.

Joanne Hull. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304; or Interim Hospice, 16 Hyland Road, Greenville, SC 29615.
