Mr. James Ernest Frank, Sr., affectionately known by many as “Ernie”, age 80, of Walterboro, entered into rest Sunday evening, September 16, 2018, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. Born June 23, 1938 in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late John Nicholas “Nick” Frank, Jr. and the late Mildred Warren Frank. He served our country faithfully in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam Era.

Mr. Frank was a lifelong insurance agent having worked for many providers during his career before retiring from Home Security. He was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon board. He was a member of Unity Masonic Lodge, No.

55 – Ancient Free Masons in Walterboro and was also a member of the Omar Shrine. Ernie centered his life around his family whom he loved dearly. He enjoyed trips to the beach as well as playing the guitar, and in his earlier years played Softball.

He also possessed a special love for old cars, especially his mustang. Surviving are: his wife, the love and light of his life for sixty years, Mrs. Miriam Langdale Frank; four children, Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Frank Colson of Walterboro, James Ernest “Jimmy” Frank, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Walterboro, John P. “Johnny” Frank and his wife Beth of Walterboro; and Donald W. “Donny” Frank and his wife Christy of Round O; and a brother, Robert “Bobby” Frank of Wadmalaw. Lovingly known as “Pop” to his grandchildren , he is survived by Jeremy Frank (Amanda), Lauren Colson Bishop (Aaron), Justin Colson, Ellis Ann Frank, Jarred Colson, Nicole Frank, Drew Frank, Thomas Frank, Dawson Sweat, Grier Frank, and Caroline Frank; as well as one great grandchild, James Ryan Frank, who is expected in the coming days.

Mr. Frank was preceded in death by two siblings, John L. Frank and Letitia F. “Tish” Fox. Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to the Kitchen Fund at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 7345 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488. Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Saturday morning, September 22, 2018, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 7345 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.
