James “Jim” Fredrick Ritchey, 86, of Davis, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019, at his home. His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Davis Original Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Daniel Melton and Rev.

Ed Renfrow. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Davis First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth S. Ritchey of the home; daughter, Pamela Ritchey Dyer of Fresno, CA; sons, Curtis James Ritchey and wife Karen Glasbergen Ritchey of Sherburne, NY and Steven Douglas Ritchey and wife Saundra “Sandy” Bevan Ritchey of Westchester, PA; foster daughter, Charlotte Sherwood; step-son, Rodney W. Salter of the home; sisters, Lois Jean Ritchey Lembke and Judy Ritchey Cruikshank; grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Ritchey Dyer Casares, Emmaline Alene Dyer, Zoey Ann Meyer-Jens, Leah Katherine Ritchey, Alden James Ritchey; step grandchildren, Emileigh G. Salter, Susanna G. Salter, Victoria Rose Salter; and great-grandchildren, Nikkole Marie Riley, Alene Elizabeth Riley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Frederick Ritchey and Emmaline Harriet Webster Ritchey and step-son, Lester A. Salter. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Davis Original Free Will Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to Davis First Baptist at P.O. Box 146, Davis, NC 28524 or the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center at P.O. Box 556, Harkers Island, NC 28531.
