James “Jim” Loy Woods, 71 year old resident of Siloam Springs, died on January 22, 2019, at his home. He was born on February 24, 1947 in Durham, North Carolina, to Delomar Woods and Mary Davis Woods. James married Jeanine Martin on July 6, 1968, in Sioux City, Iowa.

He was an Army Veteran who served in Korea during the Vietnam War, where he met Jeanine. James graduated from University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Jim’s career in corporate America spanned several decades and included successful tenures at Oscar Mayer, Bush Brothers, and Smart Chicken.

James was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and could trace his family history back to the Mayflower. He was an Eagle Scout, who served as a Scoutmaster of Troop 104 in Blytheville and raised all three of his sons to be Eagle Scouts. His family moved to Siloam Springs from Blytheville, Arkansas, in 1994.

James was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Siloam Springs and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Jim’s personality was larger than life, he loved wood-working in his workshop and fought his battle with multiple sclerosis, until the very end. Jim was an inspiration to all that knew him and he will be tremendously missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delomar and Mary Woods; son, Christopher Martin Woods; and brother, Jerry Woods. He is survived by his wife, Jeanine Woods of Siloam Springs; three sons, Robert Del Woods, Jonathan Earl Woods, and Dustin Scott Woods and wife Hollan, and three grandchildren, Andrew James “A.J.”, Emerie Jan, and Scottlyn James all of Springdale, Arkansas. A funeral mass will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Monday, January 28, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Siloam Springs, with Father Salvador Marquez-Munoz officiating.

Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2019, at Fayetteville National Cemetery, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. There will be a rosary service at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2019, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs with visitation taking place following the rosary and lasting until 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the James Woods Memorial Fund, account ending in 4515, at any Arvest Bank.
