Obituary for James “Jim” Patterson Conner James “Jim” Patterson Conner, Sr. passed away at his home on April 9, 2018 in Covington, LA. He was 76. Jim was born on December 16, 1941 in Evanston, IL to his parents, William and Jean Conner.

He attended St. Martin’s Episcopal School in Metairie and graduated from Tulane University and Tulane Law School in 1967. Shortly after, he married Corene Jones, the sister of his law school classmate, Camille Jones Strachan, and they moved to Albany, GA where Jim worked in the Trust Department of a local bank. Jim and Corene had their first child, Summerlin, in Albany, before moving back to New Orleans where their second child, Patterson, was born.

In New Orleans, Jim had a distinguished career in the Trust Department of First NBC Bank. After retiring from the bank, he enjoyed practicing law alongside his sister-in-law, Camille, at their firm, Conner and Strachan. Jim was an immensely loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend.

His family came before anything else. He enjoyed traveling, golf, his pets (most recently teaching, he and Charlotte’s dog, Emma, how to fetch) and gardening at he and Charlotte’s “Old Rose Farm”. He instilled in his family a love for adventure, hiking, trains, snow skiing and church.

Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and loved having company around. He maintained strong friendships with former fellow classmates and old family friends, most of whom still call him Jimmy. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, William and Jean Conner, his brother, Stephen Conner and his first wife, Corene Jones Conner.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Charlotte Eustis Conner, his brother, David and his wife Beverly, his daughter, Summerlin Holzhalb, his son Patterson and his wife Chrissy Conner, his stepdaughter and her husband, Leslie and Rick Cruz, his stepson, Bryan Wagner and his wife Kim Magowan, and nine grandchildren, Andrew Holzhalb, Lucy Holzhalb, Nora Wagner, Luca Cruz, Camille Wagner, Belén Cruz, James Conner III, Charlie Conner and William Conner. Services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Church in Covington, LA with a visitation beginning at 10:00AM and memorial service at 11:00AM. Jim will be buried in a private ceremony in Albany, GA.
