LEXINGTON- James “Jim” Rankin, 67, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018. He was born in Shelbyville, Kentucky to the late William Morgan and Lucille Jones Rankin on February 4, 1952. Jim was a music teacher for Fayette County Public Schools.

He was also a Jazz Musician, where he traveled all over the country playing the music he so dearly loved. He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Rankin, Lexington; his siblings, Charlotte Rankin and Jessie Rankin, both of WI, Bill Rankin and Tim Rankin,… Read More » both of Lexington, John Rankin, CA and Tony Rankin, Las Vegas; his best friend, Midnight Rankin the cat, and his ex-wife, Robin Rankin, Lexington. Jim will be missed by the entire jazz community.

A memorial service will be held on a later date at Wesley United Methodist Church 1825 Russell Cave Road Lexington, Kentucky 40505. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation www. kidney.org or the Jazz Arts Foundation www.
