James’ Obituary James “Jimmy” William Whitson, 74, of Somerset, born on November 8, 1945 in Somerset, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Cumberland Nursing & Rehab after a lengthy illness. Jimmy was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the Baptist faith, an exceptional mechanic, and loved music and dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis “Cat” and Elva Lee Whitson; one rainbow infant, four sisters, Ethel Bradley, Tempie Stogsdill, Mildred Stogsdill and Alta Sears; he was also preceded in death by several brothers-in-law, including, Jewell and Jambes Bradley whom were special to him.

He is survived by a daughter, Anna Whitson Vaughan and her husband, Jeffrey Vaughan, four grandchildren, Kevin Smiley, Brendan Vaughan, Faith Ann Ball, and Riley Vaughan; a brother, Albert Whitson and family; a sister, Hannah Bradley and family; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Jimmy will be sorely missed. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. James Whitson will be after 6 PM Monday, March 4, 2019 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
