OBITUARY James K. Smith December 12, 1941 – October 27, 2018 James K. Smith, of Hurst, Texas, passed away on October 27, 2018 in Fort Worth, Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all that knew and loved him. James was born on December 12, 1941 to Truman and Verna Smith in Alexander City, Alabama.

The visitation will be held from 6 – 8 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. As a child James moved from Alabama to Lubbock Texas with his parents and sister.

During his high school years at Monterey HS he excelled at baseball, but golf became his passion. After graduation he helped his dad in brick masonry before becoming a letter carrier. James met the love of his life, Lynette in 1968, they were married October 12, 1968.

They moved to the Fort Worth area in 1969, where James later attended Criswell Bible Institute until 1977. In December of 1977 they settled in the mid-cities area to raise their family. This past October 12th they celebrated 50 years of marriage with friends and family.

James loved golf, fishing, singing and playing pool. You could often catch him at Hurst Senior Center playing pool with his friends. But his greatest love was for the Lord and he didn’t mind sharing that with everyone.

He loved memorizing scripture and telling about his walk in faith. James will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. We will take comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain and watching over us.

We love you James. Preceded in death by daughter Brenda Smith and parents Truman and Verna Smith. Those left to cherish James’s memory are his loving and devoted wife of 50 years Lynette Smith, children; Craig Smith, Scott Smith, Kelly Smith, Stephen Smith, Stacie Taggert, Grandchildren; Cassie Smith, Kyle Smith, Devon O’Brien Garrett Smith Carson Smith Gabriel Smith Corbin Taggert Elijah Smith Sister Virginia Baxley and husband L.D.
