Obituary for James Kenneth Garrett Born July 3, 1932 in Lynchburg, VA, James was a 1953 graduate of Virginia High School and a technical school graduate in Drafting and Sheet Metal work. A United States Army veteran, he was a long time employee of Bristol Steel and Iron Works. He was a member of King Memorial Presbyterian Church and he lived in Bristol, VA.

He was humorous, creative, and passionate about woodworking, old movies and music. After years of living with blindness, hearing loss, and cancer, he died on Monday, December 4, 2018. The son of Dr. Carlos Garrett and Eula Stout Garrett and brother to Billy (all deceased), James is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan Bouton Garrett; his daughter Cynthia L. Garrett; his sister, Betty Bowers and her husband Guy; and two nieces, Connie Williams and husband Denny and Tina Walker and husband David.

Likable, lovable, and faithful, James will be truly missed and certainly remembered. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services, Bristol, VA. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Vann Seal officiating.
