James “Mickey” O’Rourke passed away at the age of 93. He was born in the Bronx on November 6, 1925, the son of James and Elizabeth Schneider O’Rourke. Mickey served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific.

He worked as a control operator for the Long Island Lighting Company, was under sheriff, Justice of the Peace for the Town of Lake Pleasant, Lake Pleasant Town Supervisor, and a general contractor. Of his many volunteer activities he was a member of the Lion’s Club, a Republican Committeeman, a Free Mason, and active in the VFW, Adirondack Veterans, QBs, Pleasant Riders, and helped build the library. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, getting his firewood, and his family.

He is survived by his brothers, Lawrence (Mona), Tom, and John (Shirley). He is also survived by his children Barbara Tracy(Bill), Mike O’Rourke(Pam), Kathy Aird (Bruce), Tim O’Rourke, Peggy (aka Maggie) Rogers (Jim). He had many many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by Shirley his loving wife of 58 years, his brother Bob, and his two sons, Gary (Debbie) and Brian (Kim), and his daughter-in-law Veronica. Calling hours are from 10:00 – 11:00 on Saturday, May 18th followed by a funeral service at St. James Church, Route 8, Lake Pleasant.
