James passed away November 6 2018. He was 88 years old. He was born 16 March 1930 in Rose Hill Virginia to Melvin Allen and Lillie Mae (Eades) Combs.

He grew up in Carrolton Illinois. James and his brother Carl Thomas came to Utah in May of 1948. He married Carolyn McClurg on 12 March 1954 in Farmington, Utah.

Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. James is a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U S Army from June 1952 – January 1953. He worked for the Civil Service at Hill Air Force Base in the Vehicle Transportation Unit as a Tractor Trailer Supervisor and retired with 33 years service.

James enjoyed camping and fishing with Carolyn before she passed from cancer 14 November 1993. He also enjoyed golfing with family and friends. He is survived by Son Terry James (Kristine Larson) Combs of Hooper Utah and Grandson Dustin Lee (Zoe Lheron) Combs of Herriman Utah.

Proceeded in death by his parents, wife, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Still living are brother Don, Portland Oregon, Sister, Sharon, Jacksonville, Illinois. Special thanks to Symbii Home Health and Hospice for all their awesome care and concern for James.

In lieu of flowers please send contributions to Make a Wish Foundation. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 12 p.m. at Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No.
