Obituary for James N Hanson James N. Hanson, age 67 of Wahoo, died Monday, June 11, 2018 in Lincoln. He was born October 19, 1950 in Denison, Iowa to Charles and Arwanna (Kropf) Hanson and lived there until 1961, at which time he and his family moved to Malvern, Iowa. Jim graduated from Malvern High School in 1969.

He attended Western Community College and began to teach printing at Millard South High School. In 1974, he joined the teaching staff at the newly opened Metropolitan Community College. He taught printing and publishing, and desktop publishing until he retired in 2016 after 42 years of teaching.

During his last ten years of teaching, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree. On September 7, 1974, Jim married Marsha Miller in Malvern, Iowa. His hobbies included golfing, flying, Nebraska sports, and fishing.

He was a meticulous woodworker. Most of all, he was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Marsha Hanson of Wahoo; children Ada (Kurt) Maly and Quinn (Candice) Hanson of Wahoo; grandchildren Keaton Maly, Kye Maly, Avery Hanson and Tenley Hanson; father Charles Hanson of Oldebolt, IA; mother-in-law Jane Miller of Wahoo; brother Neil (Cheryl) Hanson of Arvada, CO; sisters Nancy (Bruce) Merrill of Nebraska City, Julie Wirth of Red Oak, IA; nieces Amy (Mike) Hedges and Sara (Brian) Addison; nephews Clay (Jodi) Witte and Eric Wirth.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother Arwanna Hanson; father-in-law Louis Miller; brothers-in-law Randy Miller and Rick Wirth. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday at Wahoo First United Methodist Church. Visitation is 5-7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
