James’ Obituary James P. “Bud” Daly Jr., (aka: “Jim”), passed away in Petaluma, CA, March 12, 2019. Loving father of James P. Daly III (Mollie), Christine E. Lashley of Petaluma and Patrick T. Daly of Rohnert Park. Grandfather of Re becca A.Daly (Lucy Faye Premo) of Cotati, Shanna E. Lashley (Brianna C. Lashley), of Santa Rosa, James R. Daly (Janelle), Noelle E. Daly of Petaluma.

Brother of the late Jean K. Daly and uncle of Kay Slagle of Sequim, WA and William Kenney of Rescue, CA. The children’s devoted mother, Eileen T. Curran Daly passed away on April 22, 2011. Jim / Bud was born in San Francisco, CA, February 2, 1929, son of Ella and James P. Daly Sr. and was very proud to be a third generation native San Franciscan.

He graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1947 and continued studies at City College of San Francisco before entering the U.S. Army for two years during the 1950-53 Korean War period. Returning from the service and for the following 20 years he was employed at Continental Baking Company’s San Francisco bakery, the New York parent and original developers / producers of Wonder Bread, Hostess Cakes, and other popular, nationally recognized bakery products. Accepting various production and management positions with direct involvement in the quality, production direction, and efficiencies of Hostess Cake varieties, Hostess Twinkies, Cupcakes, including involvement with new product development and introduction of Hostess Ho Ho’s, Hostess Ding Dongs and many other Hostess Cake varieties, he became the Cake Production superintendent at the San Francisco Hostess Bakery.

Completing 20 years employment at the San Francisco baking facility, the following 10 years were spent as the Regional Cake Production Superintendent for Hostess Cakes for the Western States which included assignments in Seattle, Spokane, WA, San Francisco, Sacramento, Anchorage, AK and Honolulu, HI, among others with offices in Redwood City and Los Angeles. Completing that assignment he accepted the position as the National Hostess Cake Production Superintendent within the companies offices in New York and residence in CT. Completing a total of 36 years employment with Continental Baking Co., and after living six years in the Eastern U.S., he returned home to CA, and for the following 12 years consulted, assisting many of the larger baking companies including assignments in Australia, Canada, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, etc.

, before retiring and moving to Sonoma County in 2008 to be closer to his family. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, with the Vigil Service at 3:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma, CA.
