James R. Freeland of Marcellus passed away at home on November 13, 2018 at the age of 70. He graduated from Jordan-Elbridge High School and owned J.R. Freeland Construction for over 50 years, working to maintain the beauty and history of Skaneateles and Marcellus through his work. He enjoyed bowling on 2 leagues for many years and considered the members of those leagues as dear friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Rebecca Bright Freeland; his children: James R. (Mary Jean) Freeland Jr., Meredith (Kenneth Coon) Freeland, Geoffrey Bowen, Katherine Freeland, and Kimberly (Nicholas) Catalano; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother William Freeland and his sister, Diana Buell, as well as several nieces and nephews. At Jim’s request, there will be no services or calling hours.

The family will host a Celebration of Life after the holidays. Donations are welcome to Hospice of CNY.
