James Thomas Crabtree December 21, 1934 – February 20, 2019 James Thomas Crabtree at 84 years old and who everyone knew as Tom; peacefully passed away at his home in Lake Oswego, Oregon the evening of February 20th, 2019. Tom’s youth was spent in Coos Bay, Oregon where he was active in sports and met the love of his life, Donna (Hollenbeck) Crabtree. Tom married Donna, who proceeded his passing in March of 2016, after graduating in 1952 from Marshfield High School in Coos Bay.

Together they moved to Eugene where they attended the University of Oregon and where Tom earned a full ride scholarship to play football and basketball for the Ducks. After his sophomore year, Tom decided to put his focus on football where he played Quarterback and Defensive Back. Shortly thereafter, Tom and Donna decided to start their family.

After graduating in 1956, Tom hung up his cleats and went to work for Georgia Pacific as a mill supervisor in Springfield, Oregon. In the early 1960’s with his growing family in tow, Tom went to work for North Pacific Lumber Company in Portland where he excelled in the world of wholesale plywood sales. In 1976, Tom and his two business partners started their own wholesale wood products company; Simon, Crabtree and Ryan.

By 1987, Tom’s three sons had joined him in the SCR Inc. community. Tom touched many people’s lives over the years and was more than a boss and a broker. Besides being an outstanding husband and father, he built personal relationships with all his friends, customers and everyone that worked with him.

That is what made him so special! Tom is survived by his sons and daughters in law: Terry and Mary Crabtree, Bill and Laurie Crabtree, Richard and Kim Crabtree. His eight grandchildren and his nine great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother Lawrence Crabtree of Coos Bay and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded by his sister Lorraine.
