James Thompson, Jr., 81, of Stuttgart received and answered Heaven’s call to exchange this mortal life for that of immortality. Born March 25, 1937 in Biscoe, Arkansas, he was the son of the late James Thompson, Sr. and Gladys Patterson Thompson. James accepted Christ at an early age and united with the First Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend D.L. O’Neal, where he served as a deacon.

James received his education at Holman High School. He loved to fish and hunt, but most of all he enjoyed his family. James worked at Stuttgart Machinery as a supervisor and crane operator for over 50 years before retirement.

James was united in holy matrimony to the late Ida V. Reeves Thompson and became the father of five children. Later in life he married the late Emma Charlene Thompson and relocated to Cotton Plant, Arkansas, where he united with Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church under the leadership of Reverend William Thompson. James was preceded in death by his parents James Thompson, Sr. and Gladys Thompson, grandparents Bob and Rosetta Thompson, sister Ruby Clark, brothers Donald Thompson and Dale Thompson.

Those left to cherish his loving memory include his children Phyllis Thompson of Tulsa, OK, Diane Carter of Camden, AR, Tony (Latochia) Thompson of Pine Bluff, AR, Calvin Thompson (Jacqueline Little) of Pine Bluff, AR, and Kenny Thompson of Stuttgart, AR; sisters Jeanette Allen of Stuttgart, AR, Allene Offord of Chicago, IL, Kathy (Roger) Delong of Round Rock, TX, and Linda Neasley of Kansas City, MO; 38 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friend who will cherish his memory.
