Please come share the celebration of Jan Foster’s life. On December 22, Jan lost a yearlong battle with heart disease. She left us her last baked Christmas goodies on the stove as she went to heaven.

Jan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her home protected, clothed and fed the family, friends and many strangers who crossed her path. Friends were always welcome.

There was always a fresh pot of coffee and cookies for anyone who walked through her door. The home was a place of comfort and kindness. Jan was an accomplished speech pathologist and audiologist who specialized in working with individuals with learning disabilities, speech deficiencies, and hearing and sight impairments.

She was well respected and recognized for her abilities to help people with aphasia and closed head injuries. Her skills helped many people throughout Texas achieve their maximum capabilities. As an artist, Jan rendered watercolors of the South Texas beaches, shores and birds and brought West Texas to life on paper.

Her sewing room was a hub of activity for sewing clothes and teaching family and friends these skills. Her cloth dolls, made from scratch, delighted children and adults in their imaginative character and construction. Jan is preceded in death by the love of her life and best friend, Brady Foster.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many others. Children Stephen and Wendy Foster, Polly and David Reavis, Nancy and Danny Beyer, Peggy and Charles Ring. Grandchildren: Stephen’s children: Elizabeth Zimmerman (Billy) Swinney, Anna Foster, Nikolas (Claudia) Foster; Polly’s children: Erin (Evan) Scheessele, Paul Campbell; Nancy’s children: Catherine (Eric) Wilson, Allen (Nancy) Beyer; and Peggy’s children: Herbert (Brittney) Ring, Rebekah (Riley) Teltschik.

Jan was an avid reader and would be thrilled that books would be donated to libraries and child related organizations in lieu of flowers.
