Jan Neppl, 62, of Wahpeton, ND, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with a prayer service at 5:00 pm at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. Visitation will continue on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by her funeral service at 11:00 am at the United Church of Christ (Congregational), Wahpeton, with Rev.

Ken Adams officiating. Burial will be on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home.

Jan Karla Emery was born on February 15, 1956 in Breckenridge, MN to Clyde and Phyllis (Walter) Emery. She grew up in Wahpeton where she attended grade school and later graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1974. While working at the movie theatre in Breckenridge, Jan met Randy Neppl.

The two were later married on July 12, 1975. The couple moved to Fort Leavenworth, KS in 1975 before returning back to Wahpeton in 1977. While in Wahpeton, Jan worked for Bremer Bank and 3M/Imation.

Jan had a green thumb. She loved gardening and helping out at the family’s greenhouse. She won yard of the week on multiple occasions and was also on the garden tour for her beautiful yard.

She was an excellent cook, and her family will miss her famous banana bread and rice krispie bars. She also enjoyed talking politics. Jan’s grandchildren were the apple of her eye.

She was their biggest cheerleader and rarely missed an activity. She was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ where she enjoyed making pies and serving with her circle. Jan will be greatly missed by her children, Christopher Neppl, Wahpeton, and Stefani (Ty) Mikkelson, Breckenridge; her grandchildren, Keagan Neppl, Zane Mikkelson, Kasen Neppl, Kennasyn Neppl, and Chase Mikkelson; her sisters, Diane (Maynard) Bjerke and Penny (Steve) Helgeson; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Trudy Such, Morris Neppl, Tim Neppl, Carol (Paul) LeNoue, and Renee (Scott) Rossow; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Phyllis Emery; husband, Randy Neppl; son, Phillip Neppl; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenenth (Neva) Neppl, Richard Neppl, Terrance (Shirley) Neppl, Nila (Walter) Grenz, Adelaide Jay Neppl, JoAnn Neppl, Roland Helgeson, and Ray Such.
