Jane DeLoyce Hess Jane DeLoyce Hess, age 71, of Camp Hill, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, died at Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital on Saturday, May 26, 2018, from complications of Type 1 Diabetes. Jane was born on Saturday, August 31, 1946 in Harrisburg to the late Charles R. Hess and K. Isaballa (Sweitzer) Hess. In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, The Reverend William H. Blose Jane will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Her survivors include a sister, The Reverend Janet K. Hess of Media, PA. Jane graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School as part of the class of 1964 and cum laude from the Pennsylvania State University in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic 63 years ago.
She was the former director of communications for Capital Blue Cross and the PA Automotive Association as well as a public relations consultant for several years. Jane was a member of the PA Public Relations Society. She was also an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill, where she served as treasurer of the former Women of Trinity, was a long-time member of the Chancel Choir and Finance Committee and Arts Committee.
Jane also served as an office volunteer and co-founded and participated in the church’s tutoring program in Harrisburg elementary schools. As a strong supporter of medical education, she participated in Penn State Hershey Medical College’s, “Patient as Teacher Program”. In 2005, Jane was a recipient of the 50-Year Medal awarded by the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston.
All are welcome to join Jane’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Friday, June 8, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011; with The Reverend Guy S. Edmiston, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the church. Jane’s family invites everyone to join them for refreshments at her church following the interment.
