Jane’s Obituary Jane Rivers, 76, of Canadian, passed away January 17, 2019 in Amarillo, Texas. Memorial Services will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Canadian Church of Christ with Barry Hobson and Jake Perkins, preaching minister, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Jane was born April 23, 1942 in Quanah to Loicie & Lucile Etheredge. She graduated from Canadian High School in 1960. Jane received a Bachelor of Science degree from Abilene Christian University and a Master’s degree from the University of Arizona.

She began her teaching career at McLean; she then went on to teach in Harlingen, the Gene Howell school in Canyon, and Canadian. Jane was a faithful member of the Canadian Church of Christ and PEO. Survivors include her husband of 54 years Warren Rivers; a daughter, Vickie Rivers Cochran and husband Shannon; a son, John Rivers and wife Brandy; 6 grandchildren, Jordan, Reagan, Brooklyn, Karalee, Kaylene, Noah; 3 step grandchildren Dakota, Alexis and Abigail; and a sister, Becky Dockray Reid and husband Jerry.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be made to the High Plains Children’s Home, 11461 Southwestern St., Amarillo, TX 79118; Canadian Church of Christ, PO Box 876, Canadian, TX 79014; Canadian River Valley Pioneer Museum, 118 S. 2nd St., Canadian, TX 79014.
