Obituary for Janet E. Falconer (Jenkins) Janet E. Falconer, 83 years, a resident of Kennebunk died peacefully Thursday morning, November 15, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her family. Janet was born in Somerville, MA on January 16, 1935, the daughter of Ralph L. and Helen Louise (Florian) Jenkins. She graduated from South Boston High School and from Framingham Teachers College.

She worked as a teacher in Greenfield, MA, West Springfield, MA and Agawam, MA for several years before moving to Maine in 1970. After moving to Maine, she owned and operated The Heathery House in Kennebunkport until 1983. She was a member of the Downeast Cat Club in Kennebunkport, a member of the Kennebunk Kennebunkport Arundel Chamber of Commerce for many years and a member of Helping Hands for the Shriners of York County.

Janet was a huge cat lover and was instrumental for making the Maine Coon Cat the official State Cat. Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, G. Gavin “Scotty” Falconer of Kennebunk; her sons Eric Falconer and his wife Dianne of Kennebunk and Douglas Falconer of Orlando FL; and by a granddaughter Caitlin Falconer of Kennebunk. Friends may call on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Johnson Hall Museum, 2713 Post Road, Wells, ME 04090 with prayers at 7PM.

Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plains, MA on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11AM. Should friends desire, donations in Janet’s memory can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
