Janette’s Obituary Janette “Jan” A. Lein, 91 of Onalaska, WI. died Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Brookdale Assisted living in Onalaska. She was born January 22, 1927 at home in Skaim Hollow, Winneshiek County, Iowa, to Joseph and Thelma (Moen) Skaim.

She was baptized and Confirmed at the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church. Jan attended Rocksvold Country School. She enjoyed growing up on the farm with her parents and 12 sisters and brothers.

On a trip to California, while visiting her sister, she was “Queen for a Day” on the TV show with Jack Baily. Jan worked at the Decorah Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide taking care of the babies in the nursery. She later worked at St Luke’s Hospital in St. Paul and as a Home Health Aide in Austin, MN.

On March 15, 1958, she married Bob Lein, the love of her Life. They lived in Minneapolis, later moving to Austin, MN, where they lived for 44 years and later to Onalaska in 2012 to be close to Karin and Family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She loved the special trips up north each summer with the grandsons. Also, many other trips including Norway with Kevin and Barb and Disney World with Karin, Tom and the Boys. She also enjoyed Her Norwegian Heritage!

She loved to make Lefsa and Flat bread and collected Norwegian carvings and rosemaling. She even did a little rosemaling herself. She also loved to collect antiques and refinish furniture.

Jan loved taking pictures and compiled many photo albums for her family to enjoy. Jan is survived by her daughter Karin (Tom) Wiese of La Crescent, MN. Daughter in law Barb Lein of Temecula, CA.

Grandsons, Michael Wiese of Holmen, John ( Katy) Wiese of Holmen, Peter ( Jess) Wiese of Caledonia, Mark ( Brianne) Wiese of Mankato, MN. Jesse (Michelle) Bawek of Des Moines, IA. Granddaughter Andrea ( Danny) Marrapodi of Los Angeles, CA.

Her Great Grandchildren Weston Wiese, Reese Wiese, Otis and Zora Marrapodi, Connor, Alex and Joslin Bawek. Sisters: Gladys Howe, Larraine (Larry) Schumacher, Markeata Schuler, Anna Marie (Jerry) Ewing, Darlene Klien (Mert Phipps), Brothers: Harry (Dorene) Larson, Daryl (Ellen) Larson, David (Linda) Larson. Sister In Law Audrey Lein and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Husband Bob, Son Kevin, birth father Joseph Skaim and her parents Leonard and Thelma Larson; Sisters, Millie Daniels, Thelma Sampson, Adeline Jensen and brother Clark Larson Jan was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She will be dearly missed and remembered by family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church; 21 N. Hill St., La Crescent MN.

Burial will follow in Fremont Cemetery, Iowa.
