Janina Malik, (nee: Posluszna), 81, of Bayonne, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Bayonne Medical Center. Born in Poland, she emigrated to the United States in 1993 before settling in Bayonne. A proud homemaker, Janina built her life around her family and faith.

As the matriarch and rock of her family, she held her title in the highest regard. She especially enjoyed the warmth and togetherness of the holidays and preparing great Polish meals for her family and friends and was affectionately referred by her children as “The Pierogi Master”. She was loved and admired for her energetic spirit and devotion to helping others.

She was a faithful parishioner of St. John Paul II Parish where she was a founding member of the Family of Nazareth Society. Keeping her family together spiritually was of the utmost importance to Janina. She led by example and emphasized loyalty to her catholic faith by initiating gatherings where she and her family prayed the rosary together on the first Sunday of each month.

This encouraged everyone to keep God first and to always maintain a relationship with Him. She also served as lecturer, Eucharistic minister, altar server, and collector and counter. Her generous nature will have a lasting effect on all of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Janina was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband Stefan in 1990; her parents, Piotr and Wiktoria (Fryc) Posluszny. Left to cherish her wonderful legacy are her three daughters, Ewa Staromiejska, Urszula Gil and her husband Janusz, and Malgorzata Malik, one son Piotr Malik and his wife Renata; six sisters, Stella Kolakowski and husband Casey, Maria Lipa and husband Kazimierz, Krystyna Lakomy (late husband Mieczyslaw), Malgorzata Skiba and husband Stanislaw, Kazimira Mazurkiewicz and husband Marek, and Zofia (Halina) Blicharz and husband Zbigniew, three brothers, Stanislaw Posluszny (late wife Maria), Jozef Posluszny and wife Michalina, and Jan Posluszny and wife Helena; nine grandchildren, Kinga, Marcin, Wiktoria, Mikolaj (Nick) Maxymilian, Szymon, Gabriela, Tymoteusz, and Emilia; and one great-grandson Augustyn. Also survived by many loving and caring nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Friday, May 24, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass in Polish will be held in Janina’s honor on Saturday, May 25, at 9:30 a.m. from St. John Paul II Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne. Interment will follow at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
