Jean’s Obituary Sharon Springs, Cobleskill (Schoharie County): Jean Alice Lockwood Caton, 94, passed away in Hilton Head, South Carolina on February 28th, 2019. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 25th, 1924, the eldest daughter of Charles and Jesse Koehler. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Jamaica, NY.

She married Robert Charles Lockwood in 1946. The couple settled in Massapequa Park, NY to raise their family. After Robert retired, they moved to Sharon Springs, NY, and twelve years after Robert’s death, Jean married Eugene Caton of Cobleskill, NY.

She later moved to live with her son, Joe, in Hilton Head Island, SC. after Eugene’s death. She enjoyed reading, baking, and most of all shopping.

She cherished times spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean was a prankster and a fun-loving sister, mom and grandmother. She is preceded by her parents Charles and Jesse Koehler, her husband’s Robert and Eugene, daughters, Jill Lockwood and Lynn Johnson, sister Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Rogers, brother Charles ‘Buddy’ Koehler.

She is survived by her son Joseph (Sarah) Lockwood of Hilton Head Island, SC, sister Ruth Assande of Massapequa Park, NY, brother Joseph E. (Bonnie) Koehler of Plymouth, MA, stepdaughter Mary Ann (Robert) Oteri; grandchildren Brendan (Cathy) Johnson, Tim Lockwood, Arsalan (Shehla), Samir (Audrey), Clint, Graig, Brett and Dylan, great grandchildren Izaak, Arya, Joe, Angelina, Anthony, Ella and many near and dear friends. A graveside inurnment will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 10am at Sharon Springs Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11:30am at Zion Lutheran Church, 615 E. Main St, Cobleskill, NY. A reception will be held at the Cobleskill Fire Hall after the memorial service.
