Jean D. Cain, Age 90, of Downingtown formerly of Exton, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend to many died peacefully at home on October 28, 2018. Preceded in death by her husband Frank W. Cain, daughter Christine M. Cain, grandson Thomas F. Cain Jr and great grandson John T Stevens V. Jean is survived by her sons William L. Cain (Wenda) of Downingtown and Thomas F. Cain of West Chester, daughters Margaret C. Smith of Downingtown, Judith C. Stevens (John) of Levittown, Katherine J. Cain of Yampa, CO and Patricia C. Knowles (Chris) of West Chester and brothers Jack Driscoll, David Driscoll (Kathy) and sister Betty (Fran) Connelly. Jean is also survived by the loves of her life, her 16 grandchildren C. Denise Atkinson (Jim) W. Matthew Cain (Kristen), Amy Cummings (Jarrett), Leslie Monahan-Bell (Rick), Laura Smith (Jay Lindemeyer), Molly Smith (Brian Ottinger) Anna Cain, Victoria Cain, John Stevens IV (Mary), James Stevens (Katelyn), Jeffrey Stevens, Elizabeth Stevens, Emily Stevens, Olivia Knowles, Julia Knowles, Lily Knowles and 13 great-grandchildren Danielle Post (Joey), Benjamin Atkinson, Jacob Atkinson, Greta Cain, Peter Cain, Henry Cain, Audrey Cummings, Patrick Cummings, Alexis Monahan, Sadie Monahan, Grayson Bell, Cole Ottinger and Michael Stevens.
Jean grew up in Melrose Massachusetts and was one of ten children of J. Frank Driscoll and Mary E. Fallon Driscoll. In addition to her parents, the heavenly welcoming committee included bothers Jim Driscoll and his wife Barbara, Bob Driscoll and wife Joan, sisters Kay Bistany and husband Sam, Mary Sheehan and husband Frank, Eileen Scott and husband Jack, and Patty Scarpa and husband Dom. Jean was an early, dedicated member of SS.
Philip and James Parish of Exton and lead the establishment of their Pre-School Sunday School. She also was a devoted member of the Charismatic prayer group. She had several jobs throughout her life including bookkeeper at G.E. and postal clerk at the Lionville post office.
But by far her most joy filled job was that of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jean was a beautiful woman of faith and her love and devotion to the Lord was the guiding force in her life and a shining example to all the lives she touched. And Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these”.
