Burns 84 of Menominee passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care. She was born on July 20, 1934, to the late Henry and Orvilla (Allard) Dufrisne in Menominee. She graduated from NWTC with an Accounting degree and worked for Arthur Rettke Accounting for a couple of years.

She then worked for Globe House Furnishing for over 40 years. Jean married Leonard Burns on November 10, 1951, at St Anthony’s Church; he preceded her in death on March 2, 1970. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, her cats, and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

She always had big family picnics on Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day, as she loved having her family together. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Jean is survived by two sons, David (Jody) Burns and Vincent (Sharon) Burns both of Menominee; three daughters: Rhonda (Dan) Swiatnicki of Peshtigo, Renee (Howard) Herrild and Roxanne (Louis Jr.) Drust both of Menominee; brother, Glenn “Bunky” Dufrisne; sister, Mary Uecke; nine grandchildren: Lisa Thomas, Vincent “Chip” Burns, Jennifer Hnatuk, David Swiatnicki, Matthew Swiatnicki, Howard Herrild III, Heather Grom, Louis Drust III, and Lindsay Durst; and 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Leonard, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Dufrisne and Allard “Pat” Dufrisne and two sisters, Shirley Rooney and Nancy Stuart. Her wishes were to not have a formal service, but to celebrate her life with a “huge family picnic”, therefore to honor mom, a family picnic will be held on July 4th. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
