Jean M. Scheid, 89, of Belding, passed away December 9, 2018 at Lacey’s Too near Lowell. Jean was born on November 19, 1929 near Belding, the daughter of Carl and Doris (Jenson) Jonas. She graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1947.

After graduation Jean worked at the telephone company in Belding. She was married on September 27, 1949 to Harold M. Scheid at St. Mary Catholic Church, Miriam. Together they farmed and raised a large family.

Jean was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Altar Society and of the Greenville Senior Citizens. In her retirement years Jean enjoyed antiques, crafts and travel visiting 13 different countries. For several years Jean and Harold wintered in Florida near Lake Placid.

One winter while in Florida Jean graduated from clown school near Lake Placid. She appeared at many local events especially the Belding Labor Day Homecoming Celebration as “Peeps” the clown. She thoroughly enjoyed being Peeps as it blended so well with her good sense of humor and outlook on life.

While blessed with a long-life Jean will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Jean is loved and survived by her children; Becky (Phil) Heintzelman of Belding, Robert (Kolleen) Scheid of Lowell, Suzanne (Gary) Christensen of Belding, Richard Scheid of Greenville, Roger Scheid (Chris Slocum) and David Scheid (Heather Williams) all of Belding, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Shirley Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ and brother Paul “Bud” Jonas of Belding. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Harold.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 13, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Miriam with Father Jim Wyse as celebrant. Committal prayers will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM with a rosary prayed at 7:30 Wednesday December 12, 2018 at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary Church or to Shriners of Grand Rapids.
