VICTOR – Jean M. Thompson, 86, of Victor passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Discovery Care Centre. Jean was born May 2, 1932 in Brandon, Minnesota to Joel and May Angen. Her early years on the farm included a lot of hard work including milking cows twice a day, also much laughter and always music.

Jean married Floyd Thompson on March 25, 1950. They had 3 children Kathleen, Warren and Russell. In 1958, the family moved to Butte, MT.

Jean worked for many years at Warm Springs State Hospital commuting on icy winter roads. She had the opportunity 1965 to go to school at Carroll College in Helena. One of her proudest moments was graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1968.

The family moved to Missoula in 1968 and Jean worked at Western Montana Clinic and St. Patrick Hospital. In 1978, Jean and Floyd moved to their final home in Victor. Floyd passed away in 1982 but Jean stayed in Victor and worked for many years at Valley View Estates, retiring at age 75.

She with her siblings, Joyce, Helen, Ralph, Karolyn and Karen sang together at an early age for many functions and at church. Jean loved music all her life and continued playing for many years entertaining at the Hamilton Senior Citizen Center and Discovery Care Centre where she spent the last years of her life. Jean was a very talented at knitting, sewing and quilting, making many beautiful items cherished by her family.

Every Christmas, she made her delicious lefse and other Norwegian favorites. In her later years, Jean went back to her farm roots raising bum lambs and Barbados sheep. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; and siblings, Joyce, Ralph and Karolyn.

Survivors include her sisters, Helen and Karen; children, Kathleen (Otis), Warren (Patti) and Russell; her grandchildren, Brian, Janet (Levi), Jon, Eric and Arron (Lyndsae); and great-grandchildren Jack, Landon, Ashtin and Liam. Jean is also survived by her many nieces and nephews and other loved family members. Rest in peace, we love you!

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Discovery Care Centre for their wonderful care of Jean. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Daly-Leach Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm with a reception following in the funeral home’s community room.
