JEANETTE’s Obituary Jeanette Susan Katchmark, age 85, resident of Moose Lake, MN passed away in her sleep on Friday, May 24th, 2019. She was born on the family farm in Norman Township to Joseph and Susan Dobosenski on August 8th, 1933. Jeanette grew up in a farming family, attending elementary at Cherry Grove Country School before completing the 7th and 8th grades in Sturgeon Lake, and then graduated from Willow River High School in 1951.

She then moved to the Twin Cities to work as a secretary and as a nanny for Room and Board. Jeanette met Bernard Katchmark while at a dance at the Sturgeon Lake Hall. After a few lessons, she taught him how to master the Waltz.

Their love story continued while Bernard was away serving in Korea; upon his return, they became married on February 23rd, 1957 at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church in Sturgeon Lake. Together, Bernard and Jeanette loved to travel. Throughout the years, she was a “getaway” car driver for her daughters, a bartender at the Embassy, a retail clerk at the Moose Lake Ben Franklin, a house keeper, caregiver, and homemaker.

Jeanette was a member of the CCW at St. Isidore’s, and a volunteer at the food shelf and Sonshine Closet. In her later years, she reconnected with a high school friend, Richard Stepan. Jeanette thought the world of him.

She spent her spare time doing the things she enjoyed most; gardening, shopping, traveling, dancing, listening to music, worshiping the Lord, and spending time with the family that she adored. Her unconditional love was always there, never lagging, and never in doubt. Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Susan; her husband, Bernard, in 2013; brothers, Donald and Henry; sister, Eleanor; and several in-laws.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughters, Julie (Terry) Nummela, Bunny (Tim) Johnsen, Terry (Steve) Loughlin, Lynnie (Tim) Neutgens, and Tina (Ralph) Hager; grandchildren, Shawn (Melissa) Johnson, Tory Johnson, Destany (Jon) Anderson, Trevor Nummela (Ariel Morris), Amie Johnsen, Ashley (Jimmy) Mach, Adam Johnsen (Ally Ansell), Camille Loughlin, Maria Loughlin, Cullen Loughlin, Andy Bigler (Amy Gauthier), Alanna (Brandon) Liffrig, Kyle (Jenna) Neutgens, Garret Petersen, and Annie Petersen; great-grandchildren, Carter, India, Ledger, Melody, Maverick, Quinlyn, Annamae, Finn, Skylar, and another expected to arrive in October; 1 sister, Leona Ladd; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Words from Jeanette: I have had many happy times, weddings, births, and disappointments and sad times. All in all, the Lord has been good to me and He deserves all of my love as He is our Savior.

Always be thankful! I love you all! A visitation to honor Jeanette’s life will be held from 10am until the 11am Funeral Service Mass on Tuesday, May 28th, 2019 at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church in Sturgeon Lake.

Father Kris McKusky will be the celebrant. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Isidore’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
